Dear Reader,
The Times began as a small-town weekly back in 1884, and it
has grown to become the leading newspaper in our region and
our state. We owe much of that success to you, our readers.
In return, we are adopting a new name – the Tampa Bay Times – that more fully embraces our audience and describes our newspaper’s reach.
The new name signals no change in our coverage, our values or our ownership – which remains local and independent. We will preserve our strong connections to local communities throughout the region.
Yet we also believe strongly in the future of the Tampa Bay region, and we are putting our good name behind it. Our biggest ambitions and accomplishments can be realized only by drawing upon the talents and resources of the entire region. As Tampa Bay thrives, so will the Times.
