Follow us on PolitiFact turns 4! On Aug. 22, 2007, the St. Petersburg Times launched an experiment in political journalism, a fact-checking website with a name that was a little tricky to pronounce. (People sometimes called it "Politico.") Four years later, PolitiFact is still going strong. We've published more than 4,000 Truth-O-Meter fact-checks. We have nine state sites and about 30 journalists doing PolitiFact journalism around the country, which we believe makes this the largest fact-checking effort in history. (If you'd like to see a PolitiFact site in your state, please call or e-mail your local editor or TV news director to suggest that they partner with us.) We're celebrating our 4th anniversary with a story on our site and some TV interviews. For you, our most loyal readers, we're going to be giving away PolitiFact swag -- Pants on Fire coffee mugs, pens and electronic buttons that shout "Pants on Fire!" If you'd like a mug, pen, or a button, just e-mail us at politifactcontests@gmail.com with your mailing address. Please note in the subject line which prize you'd like and we'll randomly choose some winners later this week. It's been a great four years. Thanks for making it such a great success.
