 | Easy Meal Ideas From Janet's Kitchen | | | Hamburger Stroganoff and Poppy Seed Noodles | | | I am in the camp of home cooks who believe one recipe per meal is enough. I'll follow one recipe and then fill in the remainder of the meal with things I know how to make, like the starch, veggie or salad. Today, I am breaking my rule because the instructions for the Poppy Seed Noodles are so simple. What a homey meal for a Monday night. Hamburger Stroganoff 1 pound ground beef 1/2 cup chopped yellow onion Vegetable oil as needed 1 can (10.5 ounces) beef broth 1/2 cup water 1 tablespoon ketchup 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce 1/4 teaspoon salt Freshly ground pepper to taste 1/2 cup sour cream In a large skillet over medium heat, combine beef and onion and saute until beef is browned and onions are tender, about 5 minutes, adding a little oil if needed. Add broth, water, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper. Simmer, uncovered, until flavors are blended, about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and stir in sour cream. Reheat over low heat for a few minutes and serve immediately. Serves 4.
