| Dear reader, The Times began as a small-town weekly back in 1884, and has grown to become the leading newspaper in our region and our state. We owe much of that success to you, our readers. To better describe the newspaper we have already become, we are changing the name to the Tampa Bay Times, starting Jan. 1. The new name signals no change in our coverage, our standards or our ownership – which remains local and independent. We will preserve our strong connections to local communities throughout the region. Yet we also believe strongly in the future of the Tampa Bay region, and we are putting our good name behind it. Thank you for your readership and support as we open this new chapter in the life of Florida’s Best Newspaper. We have dedicated a section of our website to this change — www.tampabay.com/newname — and we welcome your thoughts. I offer my best wishes for the holiday season, and for 2012. Sincerely, Paul Tash CEO & Chairman |
