 Jalapeno Mexican Grill offers a cut above the grab-and-go Mexican fare of the chains. Appetizers are best, but the entrees and desserts show promise, too.  Several new dining spots are on the horizon, including a new one that touts that its floor is made of some of the original Coney Island Boardwalk.

Saturday's Tangerine Blues Festival is now in its fourth year and gaining in popularity. This year's headliner is Miami native Albert Castiglia, a former sideman of the late Junior Wells.

 Work will begin in 2013 on a themed area in Animal Kingdom that recreates the world of Avatar. Director James Cameron and producing partner Jon Landau — the team behind the 2009 cinematic blockbuster — will serve as creative consultants  This weekend marks the beginning of the haunting season at the theme parks. Both Busch Gardens' Howl-o-Scream and Universal's Halloween Horror Nights are eager to welcome you to their bloody good time. For the little ones, a tamer Zoo Boo is close at hand.

 Despite the calendar saying that Friday is the fall equinox (meaning the hours of day and night will be exactly equal), it's still going to be nice and toasty with a chance of thunderstorms through the weekend. Good thing we have a 5 under $5 list to keep us busy. We especially like the Glazer Children's Museum party. |
